21 Years of Delight

40 years, 4 months and 24 days ago, a boy was born in Texas. 37 years, 8 months and 28 days ago, a girl was born in Indiana. Over time and circumstances, the two met 22 years, 3 months and 23 days ago. A little more time and circumstance brought them to their very first date 21 years, 7 months and 8 days ago. And almost exactly 21 years ago, the couple became one.

Think for a moment about the years that went by, the months, the days, the hours, the minutes, and the heartbeats. The victories, the defeats, the kisses, the babies, the fights and the lives that are joined so perfectly, their hearts synchronize every night when they rest beside each other. Her staring at the ceiling until the voices and pictures in her mind settle and she can only feel his steady breath tickling her ear. He with his arm and leg wrapped around her… stating to the imaginary foes that they will have to kill him before they can place so much as a finger on her. Read more »

Rights vs Privileges

Every once in a while I ponder government, the Constitution, laws and the people of this nation and how they think. My oldest son went with my grandparents to a Republican meeting last week and came home asking a whole lot of questions. This has really got me thinking. And before anyone goes off about me speaking politics, let me be very clear that I believe the political system in this country is jacked up on all sides and is in desperate need of flushing to the place where all waste tends to end up. My Angel Has No Wings

The Whovian in me wouldn't let me pass this image up when looking for angels...

The last two posts on here have hit on the fact that we Cheesecake bloggers are doing this whole group blog thing as a way to reach our readers. There really is no skirting the issue–authors generally blog for one of two reasons:

1) They are famous, and as such, have hordes of fans who want to see inside their lives, and they oblige so those readers stay readers.

2) They are not famous, and as such, will share their lives whether you want them to or not in hopes that you’ll say, “Wow, I really like this chick/dude and want to read her/his book!”

Admittedly, I am the latter. Yep, I’m not ashamed. But I do want to clarify. Read more »
